Annex 7 illustrates how SEA uses compatibility analysis to evaluate whether strategic objectives support or undermine environmental and social quality goals. To continue to operate a commercially viable port with a diversity of activities
To continue to promote safe use of the harbor for all
To continue to educate and promote amongst harbor users the sustainable use of the harbor for commerce, recreation, and amenity
To continue to protect and maintain the special natural features of the harbor
To support the wider economy and community

Environmental and Social Quality Objectives (ESQOs)

To preserve, protect, and enhance biodiversity on or in the vicinity of the port
To reduce accidents and incidents in the port and harbor and reduce risk/improve safety for the users of the harbor
To improve the strength of the region’s economy, including through providing a diverse range of employment opportunities
To improve the accessibility of community amenities and facilities to local residents
To encourage the protection of water resources
To minimize the impact on soil and land resources, including contamination and loss
To contribute towards improving local air quality
To contribute towards the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions
To contribute towards the protection and enhancement of sites, features, and areas of historical and cultural value
To contribute towards the protection and enhancement of the landscape character of the area
To contribute towards the improvement of levels of congestion and reliability on the road networks in the vicinity of the port
To contribute towards the reduction of noise levels from activities on port land
